Keeping in mind the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Mahuaa Media Pvt Ltd, a media venture of Century Communication Ltd, is launching a new news channel – Mahuaa Newsline. The channel goes on air from January 14, 2012.
On the reason for launching the channel, Rana Yashwant, Group Editor, Mahuaa News, said, “The idea to come up with a new news channel is to fulfill our mission to fight for the public and highlight the unfulfilled promises made to the people of Uttar Pradesh. Mahuaa Newsline UP-Uttarakhand will bring to the fore all those issues that have been swept under the carpet for political, financial and individual interests. In addition to this, the channel will acquaint the people of UP and Uttarakhand with the historical, cultural, religious and folk significance of the two states.”
Yashwant further said that focus would be on local issues with a wider perspective. The immediate focus, of course, is the upcoming Assembly elections in UP and Uttarakhand.
While acknowledging that there was tough competition from more established players in the Hindi news genre, at the same time Yashwant felt that there were several issues of public concern that remain unaddressed. “True journalism is still not being practiced and there is space for news that uncovers the masked system,” he insisted.
“In the backdrop of all these concerns, a new channel in the most populous state of India has an immense value and significance. We have followed the same philosophy for the audience in Bihar and Jharkhand,” he added.
Mahuaa Newsline will join the already existing channel bouquet of Mahuaa Media, which include Pragya TV (a wellness channel in Hindi), Mahuaa Bangla (GEC), Mahuaa Bhojpuri (GEC), Mahuaa News Hindi and Mahuaa News Bangla.
