The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has issued a warning to the Tamil TV channel Sathiyam TV for allegedly broadcasting a programme where anti-PM remarks were perceived to have been made. As per a report in
The New Indian Express, the notice was issued for two programmes on the channel — ‘Ungal Aseervatha Neram’, a religious show, and ‘Paarthathum Padithathum’, a news analysis, where some comments made by a journalist were perceived to be showing PM in poor light. Both the programmes were telecast on 9 December last year.
But with the Modi government celebrating its first anniversary, the criticism was not taken lightly. In the religious show, a Bible preacher was heard saying, “Oh lord, remove this person along with his sons (supporters) away from me.”
The channel explained that this was a general prayer and “there was absolutely no mention against the Hon’ble and respected Prime Minister
