India’s largest homegrown cellphone brand, Micromax, today entered the consumer electronics space as it launched its series of LED TVs, home entertainment systems and an Android dongle for televisions. The LED TVs range from 24-inches to 55-inches and start from Rs 15,990 and go up to Rs 1,29,990. All the models offer HD resolution and two models – 50-inches and 55-inches – offer 3D capabilities as well. The top-end 55-inch model also offers Smart TV feature for Internet browsing and apps.
Micromax has set up a manufacturing facility in Rudrapur, which is capable of making 2,000 LED TVs a day, will also be used to manufacture tablets and accessories. The LED TVs will initially be available across 170 cities in nine states – Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat. The company is claiming these TVs will have zero bright spot LEDs for better viewing experience. All models come with a USB port that support plug-and-play capability. The two 3D-enabled models will come with four 3D glasses.

In addition to the LED TVs, Micromax has also launched two home theatre systems – HT037F1 and HT089F1 – that offer 5.1 surround sound speakers and a PMPO output of 4,000W and 5,000W respectively. Both systems support USB drives and SD cards and the HT089F1 also supports digital FM radio. The HT037F1 is priced at Rs 5,990, while the HT089F1 is priced at Rs 6,990.
The most innovative product, however, seems to be the Micromax Smart Stick, a dongle running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich, that brings the Android experience to a television screen. It has a standard HDMI interface and also has a USB host. The Smart Stick has 4GB of flash memory, Wi-Fi Direct connectivity and can also connect with wireless mouse and keyboard. It is priced at Rs 4,990.
Finally, there is also a 2D/3D BlueRay player that is priced at Rs 6,490.
