Pulimurukan will hit screens in August.
Nearly two years into its making Pulimurugan is definitely Mollywood’s most awaited release in 2016. The action-adventure was expected to hit the screens this Ramadan, but we hear that the release has been postponed to August 15. And, that also means that the film will not be locking horns with Mamootty’s cop thriller Kasaba.
Starring Mohanlal in the titular role as the wild hunter, the film has been in the news from the day it was announced. Directed by Vysakh and written by Udayakrishna, Pulimurugan is said to be the most expensive project ever made in Malayalam. Reportedly, the film is being made at a colossal budget of 40 crores though there is no official confirmation about it.
The film’s official teaser released last month created quite a buzz and it shows the superstar as someone who hunts tigers. He has all the instincts of a person living in the forest and nobody can beat him when it comes to hunting big cats. At the same time, Murugan, who is based on a real character, is also a complete family man.
The film, which went on floors in Vietnam, features some high-voltage action sequences using a real tiger. Reportedly, one of the highlights of the film will be its climax which has the superstar fighting the tiger. Choreographed by Peter Hein and shot without any body double, the long sequence is expected to be a real treat for Mohanlal fans. While Kamalini Mukherjee plays the female lead and Telugu star Jagapati Babu appears as the villain, the film also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Bala, Lal, Namitha, Siddique and Vinu Mohan. Pulimurugan, produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam, under the banner Mulakupadam Films, is expected to hit 3000 screens worldwide.
