National Geographic Channel (NGC), in association with ISRO celebrates the successful space mission to Mars. Mars Orbiter Mission or Mangalyaan, India’s first interplanetary mission was launched on November 05, 2013 by ISRO and entered the Martian orbit on September 24, 2014. Marking the two year anniversary of this historic launch, Nat Geo captures Mangalyaan’s journey of over 650 million kilometers. This exclusive premiere will contain live action visuals, graphic representations and expert interviews.
The special “Mangalyaan: India’s Mission to Mars” will premiere on November 5, 2015 at 9 pm on National Geographic Channel.
Nat Geo made the documentary with the cooperation of India’s space agency, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), who conceptualized and executed this mission to Mars.
Commenting on the success of Mangalyaan, A S Kiran Kumar, Chairman, ISRO said, “It was a proud moment for our team, and in fact for the entire country, when Mangalyaan successfully entered the Martian orbit. We are glad that a brand like National Geographic Channel has partnered us in showcasing not only this historic journey, but also the science and technology behind it. This documentary will give viewers an exquisite glimpse into the Mangalyaan journey, the salient features of the mission, and the major milestones accomplished by the team behind it.”
Speaking on the documentary, Swati Mohan, Business Head, FOX International Channels (India) said, “Nat Geo is pleased to be associated with ISRO in showcasing the success of Mars Orbiter Mission.
