No. From beginning Tata Sky has been using mpeg 2 compression technology for telecasting programs that consumes a lot of bandwidth. So TS started supplying mpeg4 sd boxes since last year all hd boxes are mpeg 4 compatible. The earlier boxes were mpeg 2 compatible unable to decode mpeg 4 signal. The no. of such, boxes is said to be about 5million. Now Tata Sky plans to replace such boxes with newer MPEG 4 ones free of cost. Then each and every customer will have latest mpeg 4 boxes.
