MTS will launch its DTH platform from the ABS-2 satellite before end 2014. Covering 95% of the country, it will offer 160 channels, 30 of which will be in HD, and cost ` 1,200 (Euro 20.8) a year to
receive.
It aims to be the second
largest DTH platform in Russia
after Tricolor TV, within 3 years
& will invest ` 5 billion in the
process.
MTS is already the third
largest pay-TV player in Russia,
with 2.7 million cable and IPTV
subscribers.
The greatest potential for the
new DTH platform, in securing
subscribers, will lie in remote
regions of the far east of
Russia.
