Oprah’s Next Chapter to simulcast on Discovery Channel, TLC and Discovery Channel Tamil on July 20-21 at 8 pm.

After a long wait to travel to India, Oprah Winfrey finally gets her wish fulfilled. On her maiden visit to India, she explores its intriguing culture and distinct mix of traditions and modernity that co-exist in this country. She captures her experience of real India in a two-part series Oprah’s Next Chapter, to air on Discovery Channel on July 20th and 21st at 8 pm. The programme will simulcast on TLC and Discovery Channel Tamil.
After 25 years of her stint with television and having interviewed over 28,000 guests, Oprah steps out of studio to have conversation with newsmakers, celebrities and ordinary people. A renownedtalk show host, actress, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Oprah has been ranked as one of the most influential women in the world.
Oprah is captivated by the rich culture and heritage of India. Connecting with its people and getting to know their way of life brings her closer to understanding what gives a method amidst chaos. In this programme, Oprah’s Next Chapter, she discloses heremotional linkthat she could feel for the people, culture, and the country.

The best way to explore a country is by connecting with the people that live in it.Upon arrival in Mumbai, she accompanies Australian author Gregory David Roberts of bestselling novel Shantaram,tomake a trip to the slums and to meet a family of five members living on a meager salary. She is moved by the aspirations of the family whichlives, eats, cooks and sleeps in a 10-foot-by-10-foot concrete room. She also gets enthused by the close-knit Indian families when she is invited to visit an upper-middle-class family which has four generations living happily under one roof. She also dines her first traditional Indian meal in a thali.
Oprah is invited to a party hosted by industrialist Parmeshwar and Adi Godrej and is pleasantly surprised by the grandeur of the night which has celebrated guests from Mumbai’s glitteratiand Bollywood including A.R. Rahman, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, HrithikRoshan and others. On her way to the party, Oprah halts to meet leading Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and the Bachchan family.She also reveals her favourite fit as she is draped in a traditional saree designed by leading designer TarunTahiliani.

In the second episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, Oprah travels to Taj Mahal in Agra to see the epitome of love. Her next destination isJaipur,where she is mesmerised by the land of extremes tosee camels wandering along other vehicles on its metropolitan city streets. She sits down with spiritual guru, Deepak Chopra for a thought-provoking conversation on spirituality, karma, aging and meditation. Oprah is invited to the Palace walls of Jaipur where the Royal Family gives her a traditional Indian regal welcome. She travels to Vrindavan and goes inside a shelter run by Dr. V. MohiniGiri’s Guild for Service, which provides safe haven, job training and dignity to more than 100 displaced women.
Oprah gets inspired by the spirituality, harmony and draws her views on the paradox realities in this magnificent country.
Follow Oprah on her journey from Taj Mahal and Vrindavan to Jaipur on Discovery Channel’s Oprah’s Next Chapter in two-part series to air on Friday, 20th July and Saturday, 21st July at 8 pm. The programme will repeat on Sunday, 22nd July from 8 pm – 10 pm.
