Expectations were sky-high on Salman Khan’s latest offering Ready following the stupendous success of his last release Dabangg. The verdict of the audience is not yet out, as it has just hit the theatres, but if we are to go by the words of the critics, the film is likely to do well at the box office. It has got relatively good reviews from the critics.
Film critic KK Rai describes Ready as a full entertainer. “The film is a Salman Khan show all the way. He is the soul of the flick and plays to the gallery perfectly. Asin and others are only add on to provide some elements of glamour. The movie is targeted at masses and entertains them fully, but please leave your brains at home. ‘Character Dheela’ and ‘Dhinka Chika’ are already chartbusters and will definitely help at the box- office. A good fare,” wrote KK Rai.
Popular film critic Taran Adarsh feels that the masses will love the film. “Ready belongs to the genre of commercial cinema, loved by the movie goers. However, there is a piece of suggestion, Ready is not a film for people who are looking for meaningful cinema. It is a film full of masala, humour, love, peppy music and of course superstar Salman Khan,” he wrote, adding, “Ready is strictly for masses and Salman makes films strictly for them. Looking for a masala flick? Ready is the best choice for the weekend to chill out and refresh your mind.”
Gaurav Malani thinks that Ready is purely for his fans. “Are you ready to endure two dozen noisy characters for one underplayed Salman Khan? If the answer is yes, Ready is the film for you,” he wrote. “If you are still ready to not see beyond Salman Khan in the film, Ready is the film for you!” he added.
However, Shakti Salgaoka is not impressed with the film. “Ready is mindless but entertaining in parts. Expectations from the film were high considering the last film that featured the star was a blockbuster. Ready isn't a patch on Salman’s Wanted or Dabangg in terms of entertainment value. For Bazmee however, Ready is a vast improvement since his last film Thank You. If you're a Sallu fan, you won’t feel let down,” she wrote.
Popular film critic Rajeev Masand is of the opinion that Ready is an ordinary fair. “To describe this film as paisa vasool or time pass is to confess that you really don't have a life. Because apart from two energetically filmed songs - 'Character dheela hai' and 'Dhinka chika' - this film offers little by way of entertainment. Salman Khan fans, I assure you that reruns of his 'Dus Ka Dum' episodes on Youtube are more likely to make you smile than this agonizingly boring film that wastes the charm of its immensely charismatic star,” he wrote.
Ready is a comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee. It is a remake of Telugu hit film with the same title. Salman Khan and Asin Thottumkal play the lead roles in the remake version. Film critics have given fairly good reviews but it’s the audience who will decide the final verdict!
