Saral Jeevan, the first infotainment channel in Kannada, is all set to celebrate its first anniversary by launching new programs. Two weekday and three weekend programs will be starting from 19th-20th February.

Launched on 19th February 2016, Saral Jeevan became a household name for its unique positioning and factual, health, and mythology programming—in short, content inspired by Indian heritage and culture.

The channel has created its own niche by staying away from both news and GEC genres. Flagship programs like Mahapayana, History, Sadhu Parampara, Grandmother Tales, and more have helped the channel build a loyal viewership base. Saral Jeevan’s affinity index is high among urban viewers and upper strata of NCCS viewers.

For weekends, the channel has lined up ‘Jai Jawan’ (Stories of Veer Jawans), ‘Nam Campus’ (Our Campus) and ‘Kachaguli’ (The Comedy Show).

‘Jai Jawan’ will present the stories of brave army men who laid down their lives for the motherland. The show also intends to mobilise funds voluntarily and the same to be handed over to needy families. The show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm.

‘Nam Campus’ (Sat–Sun at 7 pm) will showcase the fun side of college and the livewire energy of students. The show will be driven by students who actively make noise to make their points! It will feature cool topics for short debates and customised famous sayings for fun. There will also be pre-planned events at colleges where students will try their best to present their talent in front of a packed audience.

To be aired at 6.30 on weekends, ‘Kachaguli’ combines humour with a public interest message. While the show will focus on theatrical humour as the core thread, the end of every episode will convey a key public interest message.

The new weekday shows to be rolled out by the channel are ‘Seethe Lokamathe’ (mythology series) and ‘Belli Parade’ (the golden era of Kannada cinema).

‘Seethe Lokamathe’ is based on the Ramayana and will air Monday–Friday at 7.30 pm. It will replace the existing show ‘Mannina Maga’. The 500-episode series is said to feature state-of-the-art production and graphics to match the grandeur of the era.

‘Belli Parade’ is a show dedicated to the golden era of Kannada cinema, the early ’70s–’90s. To be aired every Monday to Saturday at 9 pm, the show will present real-life stories, insights and unforgettable incidents that transformed men and women into legends who rewrote history. It will replace ‘Anthima Dinagalu’.

Saral Jeevan is available as a full-fledged satellite channel across MSOs in Karnataka and on Tata Sky (#1641).
