Can anybody in this forum share their experiences about Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU)/ Common Antenna Services for any DTH. Is it a better option in terms of cost, quality, convenience etc?

For those who are not aware of MDUs:

The Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) is a customized solution for connecting multiple houses within the same multi storied building with a single Antenna/Reflector to receive Direct-to-Home services.
MDU is a centralized network consisting of multi switches and amplifiers for distributing the signal received by one or two Dish antennas.

The Dish Antenna captures the signals and transmits them through multi switches on to the individual STBs in the subscriber's flat. The setup is customized depending on the number of connections and the connectivity structure of the building.

Summary: One dish for all flats in a multi-storied building and individual STBs in every subscriber's flat.

Advantages:

1) Clutter-free Terrace (single dish)
2) Good Signal Strength (larger 90 cm dish & less interference)
3) Better reception during rain etc
4) Discounts in STB price & package price for bulk purchase
