Moving the TDSAT, Siti Cable has made claims
of damages against Eenadu Television for switching off
signals of its channels.

The multi-system operator (MSO) has told the Telecom
Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) that
this has resulted in a loss of business.

Responding to Siti Cable’s allegations, Eenadu Television
counsel Balaji Srinivasan argued that the signals were not
disconnected but were disrupted due to technical glitch
and the same were restored on 17 November at around 2
pm.

The broadcaster was in the process of launching four new
channels due to which the technical glitch arose,
Srinivasan stated.

While admitting that the signals were restored on 17
November, Siti Cable counsel U Thakur argued that the
disconnection was deliberate. The MSO had suffered loss
of business on account of that.

Admitting the petition, the tribunal directed Eenadu
counsel Vaishnavi Subramanyam to file the reply within
three weeks from 20 November. Rejoinder, if any, may be
filed within two weeks from the date of receipt of the
reply.
The matter has been put up before the Registrar’s Court
on 7 January 2016 for getting the pleadings completed,
framing of issues and taking evidences.
