Sky Vision to produce documentary on Nepal earthquake for Sky 1 and NGC
Sky Vision Productions is working on a one-hour documentary about the devastating earthquake in Nepal for Sky 1 and National Geographic Channels International (NGCI).
The film will be titled The Day Everest Shook for Sky 1 and Earthquake on Everest for NGCI. The doc will combine footage from several different teams on the ground in Nepal, in addition to expert testimony from scientists, UGC footage and CGI. It will illustrate the anatomy of an earthquake and explore how and why this happened.
International distribution is being handled by Sky Vision.
Danny Tipping, executive producer and director of programming and development at Sky Vision Productions, commented: “It’s great to be working with Sky and NGCI to produce what will be a remarkable account of the events leading up to and after the earthquake struck. It unleashed multiple avalanches on Mount Everest, resulting in the worst disaster the mountain has ever recorded. The film will also include the latest findings from the world’s leading geologists to establish what can be done to identify when and where the next earthquake might strike.”
Hamish Mykura, the executive VP and head of international content for NGCI, said: “The magnitude of the tragedy in Nepal has touched people all over the globe. This is a chance to examine the human cost and share astonishing stories of survival with viewers all over the world. Even now—as the shockwaves subside—seismologists are attempting to learn lessons from the quake.
This documentary will reveal the science behind the news story.”
