Disney Star is all noise and no action today. Meanwhile Sony silently does something right which actually matters. Sony is second to none when it comes to the aspect ratio of SD channels.
Star CEO is more concerned about what he gets to watch than what viewers wants. His thinking doesn't go beyond Tamil and Telugu.

Disney-Star being the biggest/largest broadcaster in India with presence across various genres wherein they operate near about 100 channels and provide great content to viewers all thru the year is in itself a big achievement. Also they always take viewer feedback extremely seriously and make changes in their content or other strategies based on it, ofcourse keeping the business viability in mind thus balancing both the sides very well.

So they are in full action every day hence have build an immensely successful broadcast network which is constantly expanding and reaching new milestones with each passing year.

Remember Disney-Star makes huge investments in cricket rights, movies, shows etc. but still manages to even provide niche or content having limited viewership across their channels rather than restricting it to just OTT . It may sound easy but it is definitely not, just recovering the huge investments in cricket is a big task hence we see more of highlights of cricket matches (IPL, BCCI etc.) but still Star Sports Network channels air lot more variety of other sports content for its viewers. Similarly in other genres too they invest in bringing best of content to viewers thus providing wholesome entertainment. No other broadcaster brings such array of content across genres

We have discussed this earlier too. Tamil, Telugu regional sports channels are mostly launched by different broadcasters bcoz these r financially viable while for other languages there r limitations or limited scope so as to run a full fledged regional sports channel.

Regarding distribution, well bcoz of delay in implementation of amended NTO 2.0 regulations (broadcasters were not ready to abide by initial NTO 2.0 regulations hence previous variant of updated RIO also did not come into effect & court cases / negotiations with TRAI went on before this) there was issue of broadcasters not being able to come out with Revised RIO with changes in channels or pricing hence old RIO was continued. Without signing of updated RIO with operators new channels cannot launch and broadcasters cannot pay carriage fee to so many operators for placement of various new channels across different platforms as it financially unviable and unwise thing to do. This caused certain channels from Disney-Star not launching on different Cable or DTH Platforms. This will be sorted out shortly
