MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has got the support of the Delhi High Court to catch cable TV operators stealing its live IPL feed without having valid contract with the broadcaster.
SPNI has received a John Doe order, or injunctions, passed by a court of law against anonymous entities.
Assisted by court-appointed local commissioners, Sony has formed teams to conduct raids at cable operators to stop them from illegally beaming IPL matches.
The court has directed local commissioners to seize equipment used by the cable operators if they are stealing the signals of the live IPL feed without having a contract with Sony.
