Sony Yay - kids pay channel of Sony pictures network . they are planning to bring new anime shows & signed up new anime shows including Jujutsu Kaisen, Fullmetal Allchemist, Black clover, and are also co-producing anime shows Obocchama-Kun etc. Although Sony yay mostly airs kids animated shows, for naruto- shonen series which involves more action they have carved a separate evening block, currently airing its sequel Naruto Shippuden.

In evening block yay airs anime shows , anime block success made them launch exclusive anime channels- Anime Local & Anime booth. They found success in Exclusive VAS- value added service channels -In Tata Play and Airtel, they got monthly subscribers as high as two lakhs per month after putting two platforms together. More than 70 million 15+ years watch anime content on Yay.


They follow 360 degree approach to establish Naruto's IP in India. they have multiple categories of Naruto merchandise, available across 5000+ offline stores in India. sony yays shows available in Hindi, Telegu, Tamil, & Malayalam. in future they might other Indian languages as well. Naruto is one of big three anime

Sony yay also aired anime shows Shinchan , Robotan & Tensai Bakabon.

 
Sony YAY! has acquired popular anime properties, including Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Black Clover. More acquisitions are in the pipeline, with the goal of bringing five to six of the top ten most popular anime series to the platform.

“We are positioning ourselves as a home for anime lovers. Our animation offerings are already available on Sony LIV, and we are also syndicating content across multiple platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll to reach a wider audience.”

“Our core audience remains children and teens, but we are expanding our TG to include anime-loving adults. Around 60% of our anime viewers are adults,” he shares.

While Sony YAY! currently offers content in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and South Indian languages, there is potential to expand into English.

“As we see the market evolve, we will explore content in English and other languages,” Tiwari adds.

Animation is no longer just for kids. We are creating an inclusive space where everyone—whether a five-year-old or a 35-year-old—can find something to enjoy,” Tiwari concludes.
