S pice Retail Limited, a mobile company will soon bring Firefox OS on smartphones in the country. The company has partnered Mozilla and is set to unveil Firefox powered smartphones in July 2014 that will offer superior user experience and will be specifically targeted towards the affordable segment and first time smartphone buyers. Priced aggressively, the Spice Firefox OS
smartphones will be ultra-low cost devices. The
latest version of Firefox OS in Spice’s upcoming
smartphones will support 100 per cent HTML5
and will be enabled with dual SIM dual standby
mode, which is particularly important for
emerging markets such as India.
This technological innovation was launched at
Mobile World Congress last year. The OS is
intuitively designed with everything that users
expect on a smartphone. From basic functions
like making a call and text messaging, to video
and music, photo and video capturing,
application download as well as customizing
one’s own Internet experience with adaptive
application search. The Spice phones will have
the Firefox Marketplace with applications such
as Pinterest, LINE, Facebook and Twitter.
