The makers of Happy New Year , have
been slapped with a legal notice for
copyright infringement of the song,
Sharabi.
According to a report by Bollywood
Hungama , Shah Rukh Khan's Red
Chilles is in legal trouble for the
song 'Sharabi' that was sung by a
singer, Manj. Manj was a member of
the popular Punjabi rap band RDB
gang and had allegedly composed
this song, along with Surj (another
band member as well as his brother)
when he was still in the band.
However, when the song was
released by the Happy New Year
makers, Surj was not given any credit
for it and so, the singer has now filed
a legal notice for copyright
infringement.
Reportedly, Manj sold the song to
music composers of this film, Vishal-
Shekar, using fraudulent document.
Bollywood Hungama quoted Surj
saying, "It's a real shame that this
film has been caught up within the
split of me and Manj."
"As the remaining lead member of
RDB, we continue to perform our
new and old hits regardless of other
people claiming ownership. Despite
this small portion to the film, I wish
SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) and the HNY
(Happy New Year) its deserved
success," he added.
While reports claim that Red Chilles
is trying to resolve the problem, they
are yet to come up with a solution.
However, despite legal controversy,
Happy New Year is reaping gold at
Box office and has already collected
Rs 120 crore at the box office in five
days.
A toast to all those two loves to get
drunk, Sharabi is also a tribute to the
dancing style of Jitendra,
Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan.
