A very sad story for what could have been such a promising channel in an untapped market. I had written so many articles hoping for Star Kiran’s success. With such a beautiful tribal-inspired graphics package and the backing of the country’s largest broadcaster, it could have gone far. But today it will not be an exaggeration to say that Star Kiran is the biggest failure in the history of Disney Star’s regional operations, and perhaps the worst-performing regional GEC launched since 2018, worse than even Colors Tamil, which is saying a lot.

They could utilize it to air Odia dubbed Disney/marvel movies

I feel that the staff at Star Kiran are working like a part-time job. A new channel should be at the forefront of marketing. But here their social media pages are working occasionally. Sometimes the YouTube channel is down for a week. They show only few serials. Even that is not consistently promoted. Meanwhile, other star channels like Vijay and Asianet post more than 10 posts a day on FB and YouTube. This is the problem with Star's frosty approach. Within one or two months of launch, Star Kiran had reached the top 5. It was great achievement against Colors Odia who had been there for a long time. But they act lazy. There is no difficulty in getting into the top 5 in the Odia market. Channels 3, 4 and 5 have lower ratings. Case of Colors Tamil is different. It had done a lot to catch the market during its launch. Introduced many serials, shows and promoted well. But the competition is high. They couldn't break the chemistry of people with other channels. Stronger channels present from top 1 to 5,6,7 etc at Tamil market. Colors Tamil has to fight hardly to those to move forward. Even Star Vijay or Zee Tamil able to beat KTV many years later. But there is not such competition in Odia.
Here Star Kiran is putting 30% effort so that they can't even stay in Top 5. If they work 100%, 3rd spot is a cakewalk. And the top 2 position will start the real competition. Same applicable for Colors Odia.
