MUMBAI: Sun TV Network has initiated a new comedy awards property, conceived exclusively for South Indian comedy films.
‘Comedy Awards 2014’ will honour all comedians who performed well in the year 2014.
Though South Indian films boast some of the biggest comedy geniuses, there are not many awards properties to honour their work.
This prompted Sun TV Network to come up with an exclusive comedy awards show for South Indian movies (Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada).
The awards will be given away by the comedy channels of the network.
The channels include Udaya Comedy (Kannada), Gemini TV (Telugu), and Adithya TV (Tamil).
Viewers of Adithya, Gemini, and Udaya Comedy will have a chance to vote for their favourite comedians through SMS and ballot boxes kept at strategic locations across these three states.
Besides, social media will also be used to amplify the awareness and participation.
‘Comedy Awards 2014’ will be telecast on the respective channels on 2 and 3 May 2015.
The network has roped in TVS XL Super HD as the presenting sponsor, and Sharon Plywoods, Twin Birds, and Ramraj as associate sponsors for the event
