STAR Vijay and ZEE Tamizh Both doing good job nowadays........
POLIMER Tv has better content,SONY tried to acquire this channel but till now the talks are going between polimer and sony...........hope we soon get SONY Polimer channel with better and good programes

Hello Friend at present their is no healthy competition in tamil. After launch of both Vendhar tv and Pudhu yugam the real competition starts in tamil from next month. At that time the grp ratings of sun tv will not even cross more than 500.

Well, as far as Chennai is concerned the entire cable tv business is with SCV and SCV will never allow any competitors channels in its area so most probably both Vendhar tv and Pudhu yugam wont be available under both Analogue and STB.

Also Chennai controls more than 70% of the Add market (30% rest of TN), so the GRP wont have much effect.

PT is the no.1 news channel in tamil. Sun news is no.2

Are u really serious... It looks very funny to hear it.

Vendhar TV is trying to launch their channel for almost 1.5 yrs now. Pls don't blame Sun/SCV also for this. They are not in control of govt now.
Even if it launches, it will be one additional channel like Zee Tamil,Vijay and Polimer who gives competition but can't take over No.1 position

You can't ask lakhs of households to shift watching the serial from Sun TV to some new channel overnight.

I see many Sun/SCV haters here. Agreed tat they do the business in amonopoly way and a healthier competition is always welcome.

But you can't deny the fact that Sun has come to this poistion not only by these ways. They have the technology and the standard with them. Can you compare Vijay TV's AQ/PQ with Sun's. Why Vijay is not able to bring up the quality though it is under STAR grp.

And regarding News channels GRP rating and its comments:
I have been following it up for last 6 months and there is no No.1 in this genre in TN as of now.

Every week No. 1 changes and as of last week, its Jaya Plus which is in No.1. Above website didn't capture it.
When PT was introduced, it was given as if they were neutrals. But if u see their news now, even they are having a set of policies in showing up a news. Also, PT was No 1 for some time but now with many news channels, competition is very high and now J Plus, Sun News, Seithigal and PT all r performing well in News Genre.

There's only genre where we can see some competition along with Children Genre for Chutti TV along with Nick Tamil etc. Other than these 2 - GEC, Music, Movies, Comedy - All the 4 are ruled by Sun and will be ruled by Sun atleast for next 3-4 yrs.

Now we see movies going to All the channels equally. Sun.Vijay.Kalaignar,Zee Tamil buy more movies. So it is becomin somewat healthier in these way. But Mon - Friday Serials are the biggest TRP gainers where we don't see any drastic competition coming.

Friend if some one was launching simply a channel for their purpose i would not have consider them but see the below link of their technology they are going to use its HD. Even PT coming with Pengal, kalvi, Kalai channels so dont dream that sun will rule after diwali as the competition will be between Pudhu yugam and vendhar tv only. One thing is for sure Pudhu yugam Will hold NO.1 position in tamil GEC.
