Seeking Help Tata Play LAN port use

I have tata sky T52 hd set top box . There is lan port provided in it at backside. I don't understand what is the use of it as it is a non smart box only hd so how can we use internet on it? Or it is given for future use. Because now new hd tata sky box does not have this feature.
