Technicolor India today said it has bagged a
contract to supply one lakh set-top boxes (STB)
and a similar number of high speed Internet
modems to multi system operator Hathway for
an undisclosed amount. The company said the set-top boxes that enable
delivery of high definition (HD) video content and
the modems for ultrahigh speed broadband
services will be delivered in the next 18 months. Commenting on the development Technicolor
President of Connected Home, Michel Rahier said:
“The new partnership with Hathway is a key
milestone for Technicolor in the APAC region and
contributes to reinforce our positions on this fast
growing market”. Hathway Cable & Datacom MD & CEO, Jagdish
Kumar said: “We believe that we will be able to
take digitalisation of our networks to the next
stage and deliver more value to our customers in
India.” Deepak Bhatia, Connected Home Vice President –
Sales, Technicolor India said that the modems and
set-top boxes would be manufactured outside
India, but its software development is done here. He said that the initial order is for one lakh set-
top boxes and another one lakh modem, but the
numbers can go up depending on the demand. Technicolor India is a subsidiary of Paris-based
Technicolor and has deployed over eight million
