Telecast in 16:9 Format

Dear Frenz,
It is obvious that nowadays, In the total TV sales 98% of the TV units sold are of LCDs and LEDs. CRT tubes are totally phased out.
This is known to all TV channels. Even then why they telecast programs in 4:3 format. If not they switch to HD broadcast, at least they can upscale the contents to 16:9.
Watching a 4:3 program in a 16:9 TV panel is totally irritating and the horizontal stretching of the picture is very aqward.

I completely agree but I dont see any TV channel to start showing programs in 16:9 ratio in near future.

Kudos to 9xM for starting using 16:9 ratio.

Only Hd channels looking good in 16 : 9 ratio............and 9xm is sd channel is avaliable 16 : 9 ratio

English News Channel 'Al Jazeera' also telecasts in 16:9 format.

International Channels like CCTV News, Aljazeera, France 24, DW TV, Russia Today etc... all are in SD and 16:9 format and available on DD Direct
Really the 4:3 format on Big LED Screens looks bad. :wall
If not HD atleast Indian TV Channels should convert to 16:9 format. :tup
