Telecommunications — the Telecommunications Engineering Centre, to precise — on Monday issued a draft letter to make TV content available on mobile phones through a WiFi antenna, without the use of internet or any additional hardware.

I will be happy if get to watch all Sports Act content on our phones. OTT platform won't stand a chance against it.

I think it's won't happen, if it's happen then Good news for DD/Free channels and Bad news for telecom companies, Paid OTTs.

Only dd terrestrial channels will be available.

Why bad news for Telecom?

DTH subscribers will go down?
Just imagine if Sports channels made available on mobile TV without telecom companies internet, it's Clear advantage for Free Channels and Sports Act.

Paid OTTs Acquired Digital Rights of Sports or any other contents for huge price, then OTTs will suffer. Nobody will subscribe OTTs when Sports/contents available for FREE on Mobile TV.

Not every OTT is built around sports rights. That used to be the case when Hotstar had a monopoly on sports.

I don't think DD Sports will be made available if somehow this technology gets launched. If it happens broadcasters/streaming services will ask to reduce the price of digital rights.

Wherever good content is available, people will go. That's why you see DTH growing at a snail's pace while OTT growing rapidly.

DD National importance broadcaster, they will available on everywhere. Nobody can stop them currently.

I will not mention DTH because it's suitable for TV sets. it's fun to see if Private broadcaster channels made to available on Mobile device TV and Reliance/Viacom18 who acquired IPL Digital Rights for huge price without paid subscription they want recover acquisition cost.

You really think BCCI will allow their Pvt. Broadcasters or Streaming partner to lose money over Sports Act?
