Your show 'Sumit Sambhal Lega', official adaptation of the cult show 'Everybody Loves Raymond', is completing its first season. But it hasn't garnered the desired ratings. What do you think went wrong?
The viewers are used to their regular dose of Indian TV shows (saas-bahu dramas) and we were serving them a different cuisine with 'Sumit Sambhal Lega'. The first week was scary when we did not register good viewership. But after a couple of weeks, the ratings went from 1.2 to 1.9 and consistently remained the same throughout the run. This proves that we got a newer audience for the show and they continued watching it. Indian television is catering to smaller cities and suburbs of Mumbai, but what about people who live in the metros and South Mumbai? Secondly, we got a lot of male viewers who enjoyed watching the show. Otherwise, from the large number of shows that air in this time slot, how often do you see men watching a show regularly? So I guess, this was a good beginning and there are talks of a second season too, so let's wait and see!
