The new channel, which is slated to launch on 13 December, will have 100 hours of original content in the first year. The pay channel will be present on cable and DTH platforms. It will also be launched in international markets once it stabilises in India.

This will be the third channel from CMPL, which currently
operates two channels, travelxp HD and travelxp Europe.

The Tamil channel is the first regional-language channel from the company and is a precursor to its expansion into other regional languages.

“travelxp Tamil will launch on 13 December. This is our third
channel and first in a regional language. It is not a language
feed with dubbed content but a full-fledged Tamil channel with original programming,” asserted CMPL CMD Prashant
Chothani.

He also informed that the company has already produced 50 hours of original content with another 50 hours in production.

Most of the content is being produced in-house.
“We have produced a lot of original Tamil content. We I to have 100 hours of original programming in Tamil. Half of it
has been executed and half of it is under execution,” Chothani stated.

The channel will have travelxp HD’s dubbed content in the
initial 4–6 weeks after the launch. The idea is to allow the
audience to sample the content before exposing them to
original content. “We will roll out three original programmes
starting 13 January,” Chothani said.

Elaborating further, he added, “In 2017 we will have at least
100 hours of our own programming. It could be doubled going Forward. The quality of content will remain the same.”

Chothani also said that travelxp HD’s content has been
syndicated in more than 42 countries. It has been producing
content in 4K for the last two years. In fact, DirecTV had
licensed a big chunk of their 4K content from travelxp, he
claimed.

The company is also readying to launch its 4K channel before February. Although the 4K channel will have a global launch, india will not be a part of that launch. “We will see about India later,” Chothani said.

He also did not rule out more regional channels under the
travelxp brand. “We will look at other languages depending on the success of the Tamil channel. We already have regional- language music channels in Sangeet Bangla and Sangeet Bhojpuri. This is our first channel in South India,” Chothani Said.

The music channels are part of a separate company called
Media Worldwide, which also runs Music India, a Hindi music
channel.
