TV Today Network’s net profit for the second quarter ended 30 September saw a decline of 7.22% due to a sharp rise in distribution and marketing expense.

The company’s net profit dropped to Rs 22.6 crore (Rs 226 million) compared to Rs 24.36 crore a year ago.

Income from operations rose 5.24% to Rs 131.75 crore from Rs 125.19 crore. Total expenses jumped 7.28% to Rs 102.65 crore from Rs 95.68 crore.

Advertisement, distribution and sales promotion expenses jumped 31.67% to Rs 30.97 crore from Rs 23.52 crore. Production cost remained flat at Rs 13.3 crore compared to Rs 13.61 crore a year ago.

TV broadcasting biz

The company’s operating profit from TV broadcasting dropped 7.86% to Rs 33.76 crore from Rs 36.64 crore..

TV broadcasting segment revenue increased 6.27% to Rs 130.93 crore compared to Rs 123.2 crore.
TV Today owns and operates four news channels, namely Aaj Tak, India Today TV, Delhi Aaj Tak and Tez.

FM radio biz
The company’s operating loss from radio broadcasting narrowed 42.72% to Rs 3.15 crore from Rs 5.5 crore.

Revenue fell 49.04% to Rs 1.33 crore from Rs 2.61 crore.
Shares of TV Today fell 0.96% to close Friday at Rs 315.10 on BSE....
