Sony Ten 4 was added over a year ago. It's still available on free basis. Meanwhile Sports 18 1 was added just last Spring. It became a subscription only channel within months of it's launch. Sony Ten 4 is free.

It's been 1 year 6 months and 7 days. What's behind such generous freeview?

Where is sony ten 4 on Tata Play?

Also don't understand why only airtel and tata play giving for free maybe to attract more audience

It depends on carriage fee agreement duration. Sony would have signed a long term agreement or renewed carriage fee agreement with concerned operators for inclusion of Sony Ten 4 in FTA complimentary bundle packs hence it is still available for free. Later on they may go for regular carriage fee option where channel would continue to remain available but not in FTA Bundle Bouquet.

Later when NTO 2.0 RIO of sony gets implemented across different operators then this channel will come bundled within it

They are not giving anything for free, they are earning from broadcasters to put their channel on promotional basis.
It's part of broadcasters distribution strategies. Generally dops not agree with pay channel broadcasters for placing on thier platforms because of revunue issues. I mean if channel gets popularity then dpos will get good margin from their subscription revunue. Some broadcasters having different strategies so dpos will take much time to place thier channels on thier platforms.
