Why star plus and colors following 20 minutes serial pattern in 7-8 pm evening shows.
Star plus schedule:
7:00pm= Dil ko tumse pyar hua
7:20pm= Iss Ishk ka Rub Rakha
7:40pm= Maati se bandhi dor
Colors schedule:
7:00pm= Megha Barsenge
7:20pm= Parineeti
7:40pm= Durga Atut prem kahani
 
mostly reason could be of not getting much of ADs, prime time slots garner more ads so to show much of ads they limit time slot for early evening shows. 2ndly reason could be is they are giving more airtime to shows which garner more trp
 
Early evening shows are of 20 minutes & night shows are of 40-45 minutes. Earlier evening shows were of complete 30 minutes which included 9 minutes of ads & shows from 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM were of 40 minutes which included 10 minutes of ads but now they've changed their whole line-up.
 
This is similar to what LifeOK used to have in its initial days where all programs were 20 mins length, and Sach ka Saamna 2 was a bit more (40mins?)
 
I tell you the reason just like @Sparker0i mentioned LifeOK used to do in initial days Star Plus and Colors both are experimenting with their on-air shows by introducing new show inbetween meanwhile they'll test if we pull plug of old shows will new show able to garnish same rating. If not they'll shut the new show and continue with the old one.
Star Plus already took risk by shutting good rating makers shows like Saathiya 2, Faltu, Banni Chaw, etc.
 
Colors newly launched shows are way better then what Star plus have launched specially AAA and DO duni chaar both are ugly shoes with ugly star cast
