With the Jio Star formation, Star Sports & Sports18 have now become allies.

Star Sports is having regional language channel in all South Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu & Kannada. Their wiki mentioned Malayalam as upcoming but not hearing much about it.

Maybe since Kerala doesn't have an IPL team & ISL rights are with Sports18.

But now being a JV, will they start a Malayalam Sports channel rather than depending on Asianet Plus for Malayalam commentary ISL broadcasts?

Kerala Cricket League, Super League Kerala, etc. are also there now. There are also many famous regional sports events like Nehru Trophy boat race, Kerala Vadamvali League, etc.

It is the best opportunity for JioStar to launch a Malayalam sports channel with the rights they have. We will get a clear idea about the new JV company's plans once they release the new RIO which is expected early next year. IPL 2025 will be great time for the launch.

Star sports and Sports 18 can merge their channels and rebrand to Jio Sports 1,2,3 etc. Also, Jio Cinema app can be renamed to Jio Sports app - An exclusive sports streaming ott app.
