Singapore-based international distribution and production agency Bomanbridge Media has announced two format deals in Asia.

The first deal is for India: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd’s (ZEEL) Tamil general entertainment channel Zee Tamizh has licensed the format ‘DNA’.

For the first time, Zee Tamizh has bought the format and will produce a localised version of it with 26 episodes in Tamil. The format has previously been produced in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Indonesia.

Bomanbridge Media South Asia office head Arpit Agarwal said, “The ultimate test for an international TV format is in its ability to travel to distant lands, take on local flavours without losing its fundamental characteristics.

We’re delighted that TV networks in South Asia are increasingly looking to us to bring them these winning formulas for non-fiction programming.”

‘DNA’ is a family contest, a simple game show that divides 10 fathers/mothers on one side and 10 sons/daughters on the other side of the studio.

A contestant stands in the middle and has to play the game of matching the parents and children together.

Every day, a prize is awarded to the person who manages to identify all the pairs. Meanwhile, the second deal signed by the agency is with Lasta Multimedia in Vietnam for the format ‘Beauty Academy’.

‘Beauty Academy’, created by A2G Creations, has been previously sold in China on Dragon TV and in Brazil on Globo TV.
