Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd
(ZEEL) is considering RIO-based content deals
with multi-system operators (MSOs), much like
what Star India has done.

The company’s senior management has indicated
to media analysts that it is evaluating RIO
(reference interconnect offer) deals. The call
may be taken in the next 30–45 days.

ZEEL is launching a new Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) &TV on 2 March. For the placement of the channel, it is paying a
fee to the MSOs.

ZEEL’s flagship channel Zee TV is planning to
ramp up its programming hours to 34 per week,
up from 31. This will mean extending daily
programming to Saturdays in the 7-9 pm band.
In the coming fiscal
, ZEEL intends to produce 3–4 mid-budget Hindi movies, four Marathi movies and two Bengali films.

In the next fiscal, it will have one India cricket
series (against the West Indies) to telecast live
..
