Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Play has added DD National HD and DD India HD to its platform on 1st December 2023. Both the Free-to-Air (FTA) HD channels are among the most popular channels from Prasar Bharati and are accessible only to Tata Play and Dish TV (via DD Free Dish) customers. Tata Play subscribers can watch DD National HD on Channel No. 196 and DD India HD on Channel No. 621.
In order to reduce confusion, Tata Play has moved DD National SD from Channel No. 114 to 197 on the same day these HD channels were added. A scroll to notify the same was started on Channel No. 999 and 114. You can also view the information banner on Channel No. 114. Being Doordarshan channels, both are now available for all active customers without any charges.
On 5th December 2023, Sun Marathi HD on Channel No. 1216 and Sun Bangala HD on Channel No. 1316 were added by Tata Play. Both the HD channels are also Free-to-Air. In a short period since launch, Tata Play added both channels. Before Tata Play, Sun Direct launched Sun Marathi HD and Sun Bangla HD on 28th November 2023 on Channel No. 890 and 895 respectively.
Tata Play has always been ahead in the race in terms of channel addition whether it’s HD or SD. In recent days, subscribers witnessed the addition of more HD channels than SD channels from Tata Play which is a tremendous effort. If DD Puducherry gets added in the near future, then Tata Play will be the exclusive DTH provider in India that offers all Doordarshan channels on its platform, excluding the channels that are still under testing mode or yet to be officially launched by Prasar Bharati.
