DTH service provider Airtel is planning to launch a new model of Xstream set-top box soon. As per the listing on the popular benchmarking platform Geekbench, the Xstream box will be manufactured by Arris and run the Android 12 OS out of the box.
Airtel Xstream is a hybrid set-top box that combines DTH service and Android TV. It allows users to watch live TV channels through satellite and stream OTT content via Wi-Fi or ethernet. Users can also access thousands of apps from the Google Play Store and use voice commands with Google Assistant.
To recall, Airtel unveiled the Xstream set-top box in 2019 with the Android 9 operating system, and earlier this year, the company launched another Xstream set-top box that runs Android 10 OS out of the box. This will be the third Xstream set-top box the company will be launching in the country.
Airtel’s new Xstream set-top box expected specifications
Based on the listing on Geekbench, Airtel’s Arris Xstream scored 697 points in the single-core test and 1598 points in the multi-core test. The device will run the Android 12 operating system out of the box. Further, it is said to be powered by a quad-core processor with a base frequency of 2.0 GHz. Moreover, the new Xstream box is expected to have 2GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. It might also come with preinstalled apps, such as Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Sony Liv, Zee5, and more.
Pricing and availability
The Airtel Arris Xstream set-top box is expected to launch in the country soon. However, there is no official confirmation from Airtel about the pricing and availability of the device.
