The Centre is set to be approached by the Telangana State Planning Commission for the telecast of T-SAT network channels through DTH networks, according to a Telangana Today report.
The report quotes Telangana State Planning Commission vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar who stated that it would take up the matter with the Union Government with the I-T department of Telangana already approaching the Centre for the telecast of T-SAT network channels through DTH platforms like Sun Direct, Tata Sky and others.
Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar will be taking up the matter personally with the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar. The same is however highly unlikely to result in an outcome with state-backed educational channels unlikely to get placement on DTH platforms given the scarcity of capacity on DTH platforms.
Kerala Government-run KITE Victers found placement on DTH operators only after a few months of requests and negotiations. T-SAT channels would have a more chance of placement if the Telangana government reaches out to the DTH operators.
