Discussion General discussions on Rebranding and Revamping idea for Indian TV channels

Now that JioStar has officially unveiled its (not so exciting) corporate logo, I need to see certain changes in the next few years:

1. Removal of Colors Brand from Regional GECs. Because all the Regional Colors GECs are now showing adaptations or dubbed versions of fiction programs of Star TV Network (e.g. Geeta LLB Kannada adaptation is telecast on Colors Kannada). So it's better to remove the Colors brand altogether from the Regional GECs. They should be renamed as under :
Colors Kannada - Star Suvarna 2/Star Suvarna Bangara (Gold)
Colors Gujarati - Star Gujarati/Star Gaurav
Colors Bangla - Star Jalsha Plus
Colors Marathi - Star Pravah Plus
Colors Tamil - Vijay Thangathirai

2. Also rebrand of regional movie channels under Colors Brand:
Colors Kannada Cinema - Suvarna Movies/Suvarna Cinema
Colors Gujarati Cinema - Star Gujarati Cinema/Star Gaurav Cinema
Colors Bangla Cinema may be rebranded as Jalsha Josh, since JioStar already has the licence for Jalsha Josh, they can use this channel for relaunch of the same.

3. Rebrand of Colors Super as Star Sports Kannada 2 and Star Suvarna Plus converted to Suvarna Movies HD/Suvarna Cinema HD.

4. Retain Colors TV as a youth centric brand even if there's already a youth centric channel under MTV brand.

5. Merge Colors Rishtey into Star Utsav. Or Rebrand it as Star Utsav 2.

6. Merge Cineplex channels with Star Gold or relaunch them under new genres. E.g. :
Colors Cineplex may be rebranded as Star Gold Family and Colors Cineplex Bollywood may be rebranded as Star Gold Classic featuring only black and white movies. (For those who don't know Star Gold was actually a black and white classic movie channel in its initial days of launch before it started showing Bollywood movies after a revamp).

Killing a famous brand is killing themselves.

When etv was k*lled it was also a famous brand completely wiped from existence to make way for more popular colors.
Anyway decision is binding on Ambani so yeah both brands cannot continue together. We have seen many instances where even big bazaar was axed for smart bazar.

There is difference, Colors Brand was not there in many Languages when they Rebranded ETV , But not in Case of Star, Already Star Brand is available in Many Markets, It will Effect those Channels if they Rename existing Colors Branded channels to Star.

In Terms of People, They will Think Colors and Star are Different Channels, So they will Watch both Channels, If it Rebranded with Same Brand, Then people will neglect it as Same channels

Star Channels which showing Colors Hindi Adaptation Should be Rebranded under Colors Brand ?

Example Star Suvarna airing adaptation of Colors Hindi , So it Should be Rebranded as Colors Suvarna? It Doesn't Make Sense. All Channels comes under 'JioStar India Private Limited'
