1080i 50hz,1080i 60hz

i have a question
in my stb tv setup have options like
hd 720 p 50 hz
hd 480 p 60 hz
hd 576 p 50 hz
hd 1080 i 50 hz
hd 1080 i 60 hz
what is the meaning 50 hz & 60 hz?
which is good 1080i 50hz or 1080i 60hz?
in auto it's 1080p 50 hz
please help

60 Hz is good. It's the refresh rate (no. of cycles/sec). The more the screen is refreshed more clarity you will get.

No you cannot do.
Its the video card section inside the STB and tv doing this internally/automatically.
