Want to correct you a bit TS is JV between

tata sons (60%), 21st century fox(30%) & Temasek Holdings(10%).

The name sky is used just because 21st century fox also operates some dth business outside India having name sky in it.

But What you are saying is totally right that they don't need to merge with any other company.

After the trai tariff order for carriage fees DTH will force to carry the channels on a set price according to number of subscribers. This may change the situation and there will be more channels placed on Dth and good for consumers.
