If OTT is not an option then I can happily live with just Colors Infinity and Comedy Central
Correct. Now I'm also a regular Comedy Central & Colors Infinity viewer. Their line-ups of shows are the best compared to other English GEC's.

Thanks to Jingalala Offers for introducing these fabulous channels to me.

Only Viacom18 knows how to run an English GEC, not one but two. Despite all the extensions, Star World/Premiere were destined to leave. Zee Café doesn’t know what it is supposed to stand for. Sony was unlucky as far as AXN is concerned. Meanwhile CC, CI, Vh1 and MTV are running along merrily.

Disney-Star made a major error in shutting down English GEC or Youth Channels.

TV as a medium has lot of scope to grow / succeed across genres. OTT will certainly grow but all cost involved be it OTT subscription + internet, connevtivity issues, hassle of searching content and other things like some content not being available add to woes of viewers.

TV Channels with good content mix / curated content with affordable pricing will get good ratings and ad revenue. Broadcasters need to evolve and bring content which caters properly to the target audience be it regular/loyal viewers or the large emerging/untapped audience base which still has very limited access to internet particularly to watch content on TV screen as broadband reach is limited ..even in areas where broadband is present still it is not affordable for most people to take combo internet + OTT plans and more so disconnecting TV connection specially in family homes is not a feasible option so again taking android/hybrid boxes adds to the cost.

All in all mobile streaming might be growing all across India but TV still has its charm and DTH /Cable TV have hige scope for growth if broadcasters bring in good content at right price. OTT will grow but will remain largely an urban / semi urban phenomenon with cord cutting too being minimal even in these regions.

TV will hold its relevance atleast for next 15 to 20 years...later too if only broadband + OTT become affordable and broadband has vast reach then only we will see major shift from TV (Cable, DTH) to OTT else hybrid /android boxes will continue to be the preferred choice alongwith traditional Cable TV, DTH.

In India ARPU might be less but sheer number of subscribers and ads can bring in large revenue for broadcasters/OTT platforms...so they need to have a well designed financial as well as content strategy for both traditional TV and OTT platforms which will result in excellent outcome
