A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched successfully from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 40 at 10:50 p.m. on Sunday night.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched successfully from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 40at 10:50 p.m. on Sunday night.

The payload is Boeing’s Eutelsat 115 West B and ABS 3A communications satellites, which will provide the Americas with video, data, government and mobile services for Paris-based Eutelsat.

The satellites will be deployed 30 minutes after liftoff.

Because of the payload, SpaceX said the Falcon 9 rocket will not have launch legs and will not attempt to land the first stage booster on a floating barge.

SpaceX said its next barge landing attempt will be in April during a launch to the International Space Station.

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION – A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is set Sunday at 10:49 p.m. to launch Boeing’s Eutelsat 115 West B and ABS 3A communications satellites, which will provide the Americas with video, data, government and mobile services for Paris-based Eutelsat.

Currently, there is a 70 percent chance of favorable weather during the launch window, which will close at 11:33 p.m.

ABS 3A will distribute television programming, Internet and mobile phone connectivity, and maritime services across the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East for Asia Broadcast Satellite of Bermuda and Hong Kong.
