MUMBAI: Airtel Digital TV has put up a strong performance in the fiscal ended 31 March 2015. While operating profit surged 102 per cent over the prior fiscal, the net subscriber base grew 16.33 per cent. The direct-to-home (DTH) business of telecom major Bharti Airtel added 1.06 million new subscribers in the fiscal, thus taking its net subscriber base to 10.07 million. In FY14, the company had added 912,000 net subscribers.

MUMBAI: Airtel Digital TV has put up a strong performance in the fiscal ended 31 March 2015. While operating profit surged 102 per cent over the prior fiscal, the net subscriber base grew 16.33 per cent.

The direct-to-home (DTH) business of telecom major Bharti Airtel added 1.06 million new subscribers in the fiscal, thus taking its net subscriber base to 10.07 million. In FY14, the company had added 912,000 net subscribers.

With a significantly lowered entry price differential between high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) box, the company is focusing on acquiring more HD customers.

During the fiscal, the company has increased its total offering to 460 channels including 27 HD channels, four international channels, and three interactive services across 639 districts in India.

In the year-ago period, the company used to offer 400 channels, including 19 HD channels and three interactive services.
Airtel’s cumulative investment in the DTH business has touched Rs 5,410.9 crore (Rs 54.11 billion) as of 31 March 2015, up from Rs 4646.8 crore (Rs 46.47 billion).
