Allu Arjun has announced his Tamil debut. Here's everything you want to know about the star's new film.

Tollywood movie star Allu Arjun, after working in Telugu films for over 10 years and doing 16 films, will finally make his debut in Tamil cinema. The actor who grew up in Chennai has time and again expressed his desire to work in a Tamil film. And now his time has finally come.

Allu Arjun was in Chennai on Thursday to officially announce his Tamil-Telugu bilingual film at a press meet. The film will be produced by Studio Green, which also celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. The new project will be its twelfth venture.

The yet-to-be titled film will be directed by Lingusamy, who has delivered several commercial hits like Paiyaa, Sandakozhi, Vettai among others in the past.

Speaking at the press meet, Allu said that Madras (now Chennai) has been an integral part of his life as he lived for about 20 years in the city and he was carefully planning his debut in Tamil.

Producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green was also present at the event, where he said that he was very impressed by Lingusamy’s narration. He also added that he felt the subject of the film was as strong as 2007 super hit film Paruthiveeran, which was also a studio Green venture.

“After a very long time this film has a very strong subject like Paruthiveeran movie,” he was quoted as saying by Galatta.com.

However, when Allu Arjun addressed the media, he requested not to compare his just announced movie with Paruthiveeran. “It was a classic and one-time magic, which had already happened. I won’t be able to match that,” he said.

Until recently, there was uncertainty over the project. According to reports, after Lingusamy narrated the story to Allu Arjun, the project was put on hold due to unknown reasons and the director approached Junior NTR with a different subject.

However, Allu Arjun reportedly phoned Lingusamy to clear differences and expressed his willingness to go ahead with the film.

All Arjun is a known face among Tamil film audience as his Telugu movies were dubbed in Tamil in the past, His movies are also major cash churners at the Kerala box office.

The film will go on the floors in February 2017. Interestingly, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is also shooting for his Tamil and Telugu film with director A R Murugudoss.
