On the occasion of the 150 birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda that falls in the year 2013, the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture has commissioned an animation film to be produced by Kolkata-based Aura Cinematics.

The film will be in English and will be made in 3D animation format.

Currently in the pre-production stage, the film will deal with various phases of Swamiji's life, from his meeting with Ramakrishna Paramhansa to his decision to spend his life serving others.

Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture Swami Sarvabhutananda realised the potential of animated features after witnessing the popular series' like Ganesha and Hanuman.
"Every centre has been asked to do something in their own way to celebrate the occasion," he said. "We came up with this idea to spread the values and ideals of Swami Vivekananda amongst the youth. The philosophy of harmony and service needs to be inculcated in them, as only they have the potential to bring about change."

The project has a budget of Rs 60-70 million. Preparing for a worldwide premiere in 2013, talks are in process with potential international distributors for a theatrical release.

The film will also be released in the home video format air on television as well.
