What a coincidence that two of South India’s most legendary TV brands, ETV and Asianet, have their birthdays at the same time. 30 years is a great achievement for the oldest and largest Malayalam channel. @H4hari give us a party!

Since Disney Star has completely acquired Asianet from Asianet Communications. I strongly would like and suggest that the name be changed to probably Star Asianet with logo change to match with other Star Channels. But; it's just my own peesonal opinion. Majority of people may not agree

I saw it a few minutes ago . Yes it was launched on 30th August 1993 . They had posted 30 years celebration yesterday and today as well. Therefore I had created it . Three decades is a very long time and they haved managed to rule Across other channels during this interval . Congratulations to them

Inauguration Ad which came in newspaper on 30.08.93.

In bold letters it is written: "Asianet. India's first inter-state TV network starts transmission from tonight".

Some points from this:

1. Daily broadcast from 7pm - 10pm. This slot would be re-broadcast on the next day from 10am-1pm. So daily 6 hours broadcast.
2. Transponder also had Star Plus, MTV, BBC, Prime Sports and Doordarshan satellite channels. Upto 50 channels in future.
3. All these channels for just Rs.6 per day.
4. First picture is of K Karunakaran, then chief minister of Kerala.
5. Last picture is Michael Peech (technical director, Pan Asian Systems, Hong Kong).
