BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation, is to launch its first video-on-demand (VoD) activities in India following a deal with DTH provider Tata Sky.

The company will offer subscription (SVoD) and transactional (TVoD) services in eight Indian metropolises. BBC shows will be offered in a BBC-branded section of the Tata Sky platform, as well as online via TVs, PCs, tablets and mobiles.

Initial shows include classic hit “Yes, Prime Minister,” contemporary comedy, “Citizen Khan” and drama “Being Erica.” Others that will follow include “Luther,” starring Golden Globe winner Idris Elba, as an impulsive murder detective; “The Honourable Woman,” which earned Maggie Gyllenhaal a Golden Globe in 2014; and “Burton and Taylor,” starring Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter as acting duo, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
