Bharti Airtel is planning to sell 25% stake in its DTHarm. The company is looking for valuation of$800 Mn for its DTH arm and wants to raise around$200 Mn.
The company has signed a NDA with around seven strategic and PE players for the stake sale, according to ET.
American DTH players like Comcast and Liberty Global are in talks with Bharti Airtel for buying stake.PE players like KKR, Providence, Bain Capital, GAAP are also in the fray.
Bharti Airtel launched ‘Airtel Digital TV’ service inOctober 2008 as the fifth operator providing Direct-to-Home (DTH) services in India. Currently offers a total of 324 channels including 15 HD channels and 6 interactive services.Bharti Airtel's DTH business has pan India operations with around 7.9 Mn customers. Listed firm -Dish TV has a subscriber base of close to 15 Mn subscribers.
Digital TV service contributes 3% of the total revenue of the company.
Another formidable player in the space, Tata Sky hasover 10 Mn subscribers and is looking for an IPO with a valuation expectation of around Rs 8,000 Cr. Videocon is also looking at listing its DTH arm.
