Bhojpuri general entertainment channel Mahua TV is all set to launch the Bhojpuri version of popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati on 6 June.
Shatrughan Sinha will host this version of KBC every Monday-Friday at 9 pm.
Titled as Ke Bani Crorepati, the show is entirely shot in Kolkata.
Sinha said, “It’s a tribute to the Bhojpuri language and the community that an international format like ‘Who Wants to be Millionaire’ is being made in the Bhojpuri language."
Now owned by Sony Pictures, Who Wants to be a Millionaire is a hit show in over 110 countries. Apart from Bhojpuri, Mahua TV is also producing the show for its Bengali channel Mahuaa Bangla.
The show will have its classic KBC format with contestants attempting 15 questions for prize money of Rs 10 million.
Mahuaa TV CEO Yubaraj Bhattacharya said, "We have lined up a pipeline of exciting content for our viewers – both Bhojpuri and Bengali and KBC will be the first of the block. We want to scale new heights in creating local language content and KBC is a taste of things to come. We are proud to collaborate with Siddharth Basu and Big Synergy in taking this pioneering step and producing a world class show in these two languages.”
To add to the entertainment quotient, there will be celebrity episodes. Bollywood star Govinda, singer Udit Narayan, former finance minister Yashwant Sinha and Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha will be seen on the show sitting on the hot seat.
"Sonakshi will be on the hot seat before me. Audiences will finally get to see baap-beti (father-daughter) together on the small screen first," Sinha added.
