102 Not Out
Premieres 25th November 12:00pm
@ ZEE BOLLYWOOD

So things have cime to this stage that Sony is not even interested in telecasting its home production movies & giving rights to rival broadcaster. Soon Sony Max will be renamed Sony DUB. They are having permanent long term output deal with YRF and honestly not even telecasting good movies like New York, Fanaa, Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Darr, Bachna Ae Haseeno etc. on their channel. I hope they have enter into a library sharing contract with some FTA channel/s on revenue or profit share basis instead of wasting these titles

The big library of movies (as you have mentioned including YRF) is just going to waste. Only Max 2 is sometimes showing Baghban, Koi Mil Gaya, Mohabbatein, Bunty Aur Babli and other movies released before 2005. Speaking within YRF alone, there are so many recent movies (Ishaqzaade, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Band Baaja Baaraat, Mardaani) that are not being shown at all. Even Hichki was just premiered once and left.

The sad situation is that Hindi satellite rights are now a Zee-Star duopoly, as not just Sony but even Viacom is not at all interested.

There are 2 things that Sony needs to do IMMEDIATELY:
1. Release a new channel like Star Gold Select in both SD and HD. Other networks have a second HD channel (&pictures and SGS) while Sony with such a big library does not.
2. Start showing movies on Sony TV. Since Dilwale, SET has not shown a single movie. OTOH, most of the Star movies nowadays are being premiered on Star Plus rather than Star Gold.
