The Jalandhar Cable Welfare Society has accused Fastway Cable Company of harassing cable operators and has approached union Information & Broadcasting minister, Ambika Soni, to look into the matter. She has assured that high-level probe to investigate the matter.
"In an attempt to monopolise the cable operations, Fastway company is harassing the small cable operators by threatening to slap false cases against them, if they do not toe the line of the company," general secretary of Jalandhar Cable Welfare Society Ranjeet Singh Oberoi said.
Alleging that Fastway was overcharging customers by charging Rs. 300 per month, and the company already charges Rs. 700 for digital box. The General Secretary of Jalandhar Cable Welfare Society, Oberoi, said that small cable operators were charging only Rs. 100 per month. He also alleged the Fastway company henchmen were damaging their cables also.
"We have recently met union minister for information and broadcasting Ambika Soni, who gave a patient hearing to our grievances and assured a high level probe into the metter," Oberoi said.
